Introduction

A couple of days ago when a friend of mine asked me why I was writing books on parenting and child psychology when I had more experience in guiding adults and teenagers, I had to tell them that psychology does not begin at one particular age group. It has been shown in some recent research statistics – and we being the 21st century spoonfed human beings that we are who were not capable of making up our minds until somebody has researched something on one particular topic – that there are number of phrases, which one utilizes frequently, especially when he is a parent.

These phrases of appreciation were all very well, in the 20th century, or even spoken rarely in the 19 century, where it was considered proper not to praise a child so that he did not get a big head. But nowadays, these are some words which we use, so very often, that they might take on the shape of being a clichΓ©.

And sometimes you may not know it but you may be using them in a sarcastic manner. So what was the word of appreciation is now a word of your opinion about the child underlying the thought of – yes, this was the sort of stupidity which I expected from you.

Sometimes you may think that you are being funny, but the child is very quick to pick up subtle nuances. So instead of building up their self-respect and self-confidence, they have a detrimental effect on a child.

But you say, how can that be. These are positive sentences. These are positive words which we are saying to our kids. These are words of appreciation.
